Best of ‘07: Confetti Anyone?

Before putting 2007 in our rearview mirror, here is a last look at some of the people and shows that made this year such a gas. Here’s to a quick end to the writers strike and the beginning of more beautiful TV friendships.

BEST GOODBYE: “The Sopranos,” for refusing to burn out or fade away.
WORST HEARTBREAK: The end of “Veronica Mars” and the fast-forward that we will never see.
BEST REBOUND: Kristen Bell, whose double-threat performances as the dishy narrator in “Gossip Girl” and the sparky Elle in “Heroes” made us believe in second chances and life after TV death.
BEST FINALE: “Lost,” for a back-to-the-future fake-out that made up for a multitude of plot-related sins. Now if they could only imagine a future with Charlie still in it.
BEST NEWCOMER: “Aliens in America,” which continues to be the freshest, weirdest and most lovable show that almost no one is watching.

SECOND-BEST NEWCOMER: “Pushing Daisies,” for being fresh and weird and lovable, and getting decent ratings anyway. So it can be done.
BEST TEAMWORK: Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki of “Supernatural,” whose performances as the demon-hunting Winchester brothers are so heartfelt and committed, they continue to make dreamy-eyed believers of us all.
MOST AMAZING COMEBACK: “30 Rock,” for transforming 2006’s hideous pilot into one of the most reliably hysterical 30 minutes on television. Talk about coming back from the dead.
BEST SAVE: “The Office,” for consummating Jim and Pam’s relationship and not screwing the show. Well done!
SECOND-BEST SAVE: HBO, for proving there is life beyond the “Sopranos” universe, and to “Big Love,” “Tell Me You Love Me” and “Flight of the Conchords” for making us want to live there.
BIGGEST SOURCE OF TV TRACKER CONFUSION: “Mad Men,” which received delirious reviews from pretty much everyone, and never, ever came alive for me. Did I need more cocktails?
BEST REASON TO GET OUT OF BED IN THE NEW YEAR: The new season of “The Wire.” Everything everyone says about this miraculous show is true. Your TV life begins on January 6.
