What’s the deal with finales?
“Head Case” (9 p.m. today, STARZ), the highly improvised series about a psychiatrist to the stars, relies heavily on the quality of its guests. The good news is that the season finale features Jerry Seinfeld on the couch. That’s followed by the season finale of “Party Down” (9:30 p.m. today, STARZ), which I’ve promoted as one of my favorite shows of 2009. If my recommendation isn’t enough to draw you in, then consider that Kristen Bell appears as a rival caterer.
Lawn party
The CBS crimefighters are either superpatriotic or got a great deal on plane tickets to Washington. Joe Mantegna (”Criminal Minds”), Gary Sinise (”CSI: New York”) and Laurence Fishburne are all participating in “The 20th Anniversary National Memorial Day Concert” (7 p.m. Sunday, KTCA, Ch. 2), which takes place on the West Lawn of the Capitol. We’ll assume that David Caruso had unbreakable plans.
Diamond in the rough
I wouldn’t normally be drawn to the network miniseries about the power struggles that emit from a gem mine, but “Diamonds” (8 p.m. Sunday, KSTP, Ch. 5), which concludes at 8 p.m. Tuesday, has one mighty attraction: Judy Davis. You had me at Judy.
