“Sickest” Storyline Has Kristen Bell Hot for Heroes

TvGuide blogged about the Sony Cierge Spring Event, and among other stars they also talked to Kristen.

Staying for the evening’s big draw — the Sony PlayStation SingStar karaoke event — were Allison Janney and Missi Pyle. Before jumping onstage with Pyle to launch into Elton John’s “Rocket Man,” Janney told us, “I need to sing tonight because I’m doing [the stage] musical 9 to 5 and I’m trying to get my voice into shape!” The two received applause from the crowd, with Kristen Bell cheering the loudest.

Bell herself had a bit of Heroes scoop for TV Guide. “Besides having had such a good time because everyone on that show is so wonderful, part of the reason why I will return is because they wrote me the sickest storyline I’ve ever heard!” she raved. “We already shot part of it, but the writers’ strike interrupted the second half, and they can’t air the first half until they shoot the second half. I just feel honored that I’ve been given this storyline.”

Kristen on Heroes Role: “Just Try and Separate Us!”

Kristen was featured on TV Guide’s site, regarding Elle’s future on the show Heroes

Kristen Bell might not only have more antiheroic days ahead of her (as reported last week in Ask Ausiello), but there might also be a bit of a turnaround for her Elle-raiser. While she notes that “nobody really knows anything at this point” as to the NBC series’ game plan for Season 3, she says, “I’ve had an unbelievable experience thus far and they seem to like me and want to keep me onboard, so we’re going to keep that ball rolling for as long as we can. I think we fell in love. Just try and separate us!”

Bell is busy for the next 12 weeks on a shoot that will take her to Rome and New York City, but when she comes back “is when [Heroes] will be getting things together to start shooting. So I’ll be free.”

Though Heroes‘ focus when it returns will be on big baddies, Bell’s Elle could surprise fans. “She is so evil and so broken, yet she actually redeems herself over the next couple of episodes,” the actress teases. — With reporting by Carita Rizzo

FSM Interview

INT has a short interview about Forgetting Sarah Marshall and some Kristen’s words about Fanboys and Heroes:

A lot of your films and TV shows really appeal to the “geek crowd”. Is that because you like the “geek crowd”?
I do, and I’ll tell you why. Because I believe it consists of a group of people who do what they like because they like it, and are not striving to be anything but original and do what makes them happy. And I’m so inspired by that. I’m not gonna lie and tell you I grew up as a complete comic book geek or anything, but having very recently over the last five years been very accepted and welcomed in a very loving way by this community that is now its own subculture. Stuff that happens for these conventions, I like it, because nobody’s trying to be different, they’re just doing what they wanna do and I think that’s really admirable.

Do you have plans to work on further Apatow productions? Or is this a one-time thing?
I hope not. I had a great time working with them; I hope they did me as well. I did a “Funny or Die” short for Judd last month, and we’re doing another short for the Night of Too Many Stars, that Jon Stewart hosts on Comedy Central, so I’m trying to keep that relationship alive, not only because I think they’re great people, but because I think that they work on the best projects.

Did you have much experience with improv before working on the film?
Not really. I studied music and theater, so I took improv classes and stuff, not a ton. Secretly in my dreams I would love to be in Second City or on SNL, but I just don’t know that I have the guts.

Any updates on FANBOYS and Heroes?
FANBOYS, we don’t have a release date yet, but we did do about two weeks of reshoots in December, which Judd was involved in. Which I think only makes the film even better. Heroes, we should back in about two months, I think the end of April, beginning of May. I don’t think they’ll start airing until the Fall. I don’t know what they’re gonna use as far as a storyline is involved, because I know that they had two mini-arcs that they were gonna do in the spring had the writer’s strike not happened.

Heroes without Kristen?

Cool news for fans of NBC’s Heroes: it looks like the show is going to start filming a lot earlier than it usually does.Shows usually start filming in July/August for the fall season, but according to Heroes star James Kyson Lee (Ando), the writers strike means that the show will start filming in June, and maybe as early as May. He says that NBC plans to really push the show this year, using the Olympics to hype the show.

That’s the good news. The (possible) bad news is that TV Guide’s Michael Ausiello is reporting that Kristen Bell isn’t signed for the new season yet.

He does believe that she will eventually be signed though, because fans like her so much.

I’m curious though: Veronica Mars memories aside, do you Heroes fans like her character on the show? Is she necessary to the plot? I like her story arc. I see her either coming over to the side of the good guys (if she signs a long-term contract) or completely going crazy because of the way her father has been treating her and trying to destroy everyone and eventually dying in a really dramatic way.

Bell turned down the role of Charlotte on Lost to take the Heroes gig.

Heroes and Gossip Girl’s next season

Heroes: NBC’s sci-fi drama from the producer Tim Kring was originally planning to open a new arc titled “Villains” in early 2008. Since the studio would probably not be able to film more than 3 new episodes this season, NBC is expected to delay the return of the drama till September, when season 3 launches. Next season may however contain more than the standard 22-23 episodes.

Gossip Girl: The CW’s teen drama based on the series of bestselling books is expected to return in late April with the remaining 9 episodes. Under that scenario, the struggling network would extend its official TV season into the summer. “Gossip Girl” was the first freshman drama to receive a full-season pickup last October, and would possibly be the only hour-long drama to film a full season of 22 episodes.
